The latest food discoveries

Baby (food) post coming ‘atcha.  If you have no interest, just close the browser. Here are a few new tricks and trials I have to share… -I’ve discovered a way to make apples (and hard/unripe pears) the perfect consistency for P to eat without the work of cooking them.  I just chop the fruit and freeze it (raw).  Once it’s been frozen for at least a day, I thaw it and voila!  It’s soft and semi-mushy and I can feed it to him straight away.  I have frozen fruit for two months and it still… Read more >

My highlights: weeks 11 & 12

We finally have internet (FOURTH Comcast visit since moving…sooo…third time is not the charm).  Meaning this post is semi-current!  [Depeding on how long it takes me to write and publish] Where to begin!  It has certainly been a crazy April.  But I have to back up to the end of March first.  When we said goodbye to our (rental) house and moved 2 minutes south. Australia: Zoo fun

The weekend arrived and we were finally able to go out with all four of us again.  Saturday started with a nice brunch at Cafe Indigo.  It is clearly THE spot in Double Bay.   Kyle got the blueberry pancakes (above) and I got my sister’s fave, the breakfast bruscetta (below). My sister got a new (to her) order, which looks very similar to the salmon benedict but has avocado instead of hollandaise.   P fell asleep in the stroller at lunch so I cut out a bit early to go back home and put… Read more >

Australia: Coogee and Bondi

Laura took a half day on Friday so after our morning routine she came home and we hit the road.  Off to Coogee! She used to live in Coogee (first in 2007 and then again in 2012 when she returned to Oz before she moved to her current place).  So she knows the area quite well.  She cheated on her former employer (Coogee Cafe) and took us to Globe Fine Food & Coffee.   She warned us that the service wasn’t amazing, but the food was.  Plus it was on a cute street that had… Read more >
