Olive Tasting

Last month, Musco Family Olive Co. offered to send me a sampler package of their delicious new olives, including: Fresh Cured Olives – hand-picked, then cured immediately to retain their firm texture and natural color variations. Reduced Salt Olives – large, black pitted olives with 25% less salt and pimiento stuffed manzanillas with 75% less salt than their traditional counterparts! I’m not a big fan of olives, but I was heading home at the time, so I offered them to my parents.  Here’s my dad’s review…   Like many kids, I grew up with canned… Read more >

Get Your Good Going [giveaway]

There are certain morning rituals I have.  I set my clothes out the night before – the same way each time.  I also pack my lunch box the night before.  Every single day I work. Let’s call it summer (giveaway)

We are deep enough into May that I’m comfortable calling it summer.  I mean, it’s basically June, which is definitely a real summer month. So yeah, I’m thinking it’s time to start celebrating the season. Who’s with me? Cocomo Joe is, that’s for sure. After trying their caramel corn, I couldn’t help ripping through the rest of the products they sent. The fig joebar and the eggnog granola were highlights for me. Yes, you read that correctly.  Eggnog granola [!!]. I wish I could spoon this stuff into each and every one of your faces. … Read more >

Easter winners

Last Easter was memorable in the worst possible way.  You always hope holiday shifts are going to be at least a touch more cheery and low key than regular ones.  Not handcuffs.  And definitely not assault. This year I’m at the hospital on Easter Sunday (again)…and being the superstitious person that I am, the anniversary of my worst shift ever is very much on my mind.  So send some positive thoughts my way, okay?  In return, I’ll show you all the recipes I owe you and will eventually blog about. Overnight crock-pot grits. Spinach and… Read more >
