Throw it in the bag

Now this is a beautiful sight.

This is what dreams are made of…for a hummus lover at least.  🙂 On Monday night I had about half of the tub for dinner (with every dippable I could get my hands on), and the rest I packed up for Tuesday’s lunch.

You know how I do it…

Just throw it in the bag

The same thing that the bankrobber told the teller
Just throw it in the bag
That’s the way it suppose to be
A real [bleep] ‘posed to help you out with the groceries
Just throw it in the bag

So what all is in that photo?  I started with roasted veggies topped with dried cranberries.

Something sweet to give the savory an extra punch.

It was freakin’ awesome I tell ya.

The next dish involved this luscious beauty.

Figgies!!

Quinoa with cinnamon, peanut butter, and figs.  Make this now.

So plump.  So juicy.  So perfect.

I also combined multiple kinds of granola

And just threw it in the bag[toasted oats, chocolate chips, dried fruit, dates, almonds, cranberries, etc.]

Along with my beloved candied ginger (I’ve gone through 2 pounds in 6 days I’m so obsessed).   Seriously, I almost feel like my stomach can handle anything with this secret weapon.  I never feel yucky after eating and it’s the perfect way to end a meal – a sweet dessert that helps my digestion.  J’adore.

And the usual trifecta: apple, carrots, hummus.

Oh and make sure to note the purty pink klean kanteen.  That baby never leaves my side at work.  You see, I’m one of those freaks that hates water (insert disapproving gasps of horror here).  But lately I’ve also been SO good about increasing my water intake and decreasing my caffeine intake.  It was one of my birthday goals (yes, I made resolutions for my 28th year).  Most are related to health and wellness.  Not so much in the dietary realm as I’ve hit my stride for the most part with that.  Instead, it’s more about remembering simple lifestyle changes to maximize my daily happiness – stress less, stop and smell the roses, be in the moment, practice yoga, don’t be a neurotic freak, etc.

Any other goal oriented people out there?  Feel free to share yours with me…so we can all be accountable together!

As for my H2O goal, I’ve been trying to refill my kanteen at least 3-4 times a day at work, with another 2 refills at home with dinner.  The coffee habit has been harder to crack.  On Tuesday I did well and limited my caffeine consumption to 2 (large) cups.  However, Monday and Wednesday weren’t quite as successful, and I was up to my usual tricks guzzling java ATC (around the clock).  Baby steps, right?

O I really need to drink more water! My recent blood tests show I’m very dehydrated! You dont notice it much with our beautiful non extreme weather here in so cal. I hate water too! people think I’m weird. I’d also like to sleep a little more, maybe go to bed earlier so I can get a little more sleep.

Oh no, my friend and I sang that song everyday for the greater part of last year. I thought I was doomed to have in stuck in my head forever – whoooaa ohhh!

That quinoa looks sooo good. All of your quinoa combos look amazing AND I finally bought peanut flour! Perfect!

My klean canteen never leaves my side. It really helps me keep up with the water intake. I also try to slow down more, stress less and rest more – constant work in progress!

I’ve tried to kick the coffee habit numerous times. Fail!

However, I have been able to create a (sort of) good habit out of it. For every coffee cup I drink I have to drink a cup of water before I can have another. Now I don’t get any headaches/dehydration things going.

    Good luck with your goalssssss!

Okay I’m so excited about this post because I have half one of those DOUBLE containers of hummus left and I’m eating it for lunch with bread. I’ve already decided. You’re one of the only people who can appreciate the wonderfulness.

I’m a water-hating freak too, and it’s one of my November goals to drink more. And not being a neurotic freak…well that’s something I aim for every day, but it generally comes out at one point or another 🙂

I’m actually kind of a water freak. I drink it all the time! But, I also have the caffeine problem–though I’ve been limiting that too! I’m so glad that I can now control my coffee urge! 🙂 I wake up more refreshed (although some mornings I just have to start working out or splash myself in the face with freezing water to wake up. Whatever, works right?
I also guzzle hummus whenever it is in my possession. (Seriously.. I could eat a tub by myself in one sitting!) It’s just THAT good. 🙂

I make weekly goals pretty often – usually cut back on the sweets and sugar, drink water instead of soda, etc.

You need a contigo water bottle! It is like a beer bong for water. Shoots it down your throat.

You know you said you wanted to practice yoga more?
Well, I just saw something on Amazon that totally made me think of you! Jillian Michaels Yoga DVD! You probably already knew about it…but how cool is that?! 😀 And they would probably fit in with your busy schedule cause the sessions are 30 mins each I think. Anyhoo, just wanted to let you know on the 1000-1 chance that you didn’t know, lol! 😉
Take care and have an awesome day! Thank you so much for all the inspiration you provide just living your day-to-day life and blogging about it – love your goals!
    Big smiles,
    Yolie x
