Bonobo’s on the brain

After a wonderful morning of sleeping in, running in the park, and brunching at Joe, I headed downtown to pop into my old office.  I just wanted to say hello to some of my friends from work.    And by “office”, I mean hospital.  And by “some of my friends” I mean two people.  Because almost everyone else has quit since I left.  I had been texting with them the days leading up to my trip, so I knew they’d be working that day…but I didn’t anticipate anyone else caring that I was coming… Read more >

Oh Joe

In New York, there are things that are expensive for no reason, and then there are things that are expensive because they are the best. When I woke up I semi-freaked out because I realized my packing time (before leaving for New York) was minimal.  And still, my priority was food. I had quinoa with vanilla soy yogurt, cinnamon and bananas. Then I showered, threw clothes in a suitcase, and we were off to the bus stop.  I am slightly nervous about how haphazardly I packed…but we’re staying at Jess’ apartment (she’s out of town) so having her closet at my disposal is my backup.  And by… Read more >

Prop 65

After I gave up fake sugar, my coffee consumption took a hit.  And subsequently, the frequency that I sought out the siren.  I think my Starbucks gold card membership is in jeopardy.  But for any of you who have been to the ‘bucks lately, you may have noticed this at the milk/sugar bar. Uhhh… After further research, I found it was due to the acrylamide from roasting coffee beans.  Legally, places that serve products with this chemical have to inform us (the consumers).  Hmmm.  It’s nice to feel empowered with this knowledge, but the way… Read more >
