I gotta stop pushing it these weekends

This weekend was full of relaxing at home.  Thank goodness! Last weekend I came down with mastitis and was way too ambitious for my own good.  We went to a football game with a couple and their 6 month old on Saturday.  And then traveled to the East Bay for a baby shower on Sunday. It was really fun, but I my suffer-in-silence-and-just-push-through-it approach completely backfired.  Come Monday I felt like crap and it was just me and pacman left to our own devices. Raise your hand if you’re surprised by my stubbornness…nobody?  Yeah that’s… Read more >

On bread and on greens

Quick meals these days! My philosophy: Throw something on toast or a bed of lettuce and call it a day.   [The Essential Baking Co] GF toast with avocado and goat cheese. Australian surprise weekend

My sister finally got to meet her nephew!!! What a ladies… Read more >

Tazo vanilla rooibos parfait (from Starbucks) Because I like my tea really (almond) milky, I’m always on the lookout for new decaf varieties that aren’t fruity and don’t have mint or chamomile in them (the two herbal flavors I am not a fan of).  It’s surprisingly hard to find.  And lately fennel is… Read more >

Veggie Chorizo & Kale Rice Casserole

OH.  EM.  GEEEEEEE. Ok, I know it’s kinda weird to get SO excited over a casserole, but this was crazy good.  And simple! My mom went grocery shopping for us while we were in the hospital and she bought us tofurky’s chorizo crumbles, which I’d never tried before.  I’m skeptical of faux meat products.  I have my faves (like Field Roast), and I have my avoids (like smart pups), so this one remained to be determined… It’s soy based (non GMO) using soy flour and canola oil, with not much else aside from seasonings.  Not… Read more >
