A weekend of Lafayette leaves

I’m so behind in posting!!  Indulge me as I recap last weekend… Thursday night we got a surprise visit from Kyle’s dad.  He was passing through Davis so he spent the night at our place. He arrived during patty-cake’s dinner time.  More peas for P, please! After we all played for a while, it was bedtime for the little guy. We had called in a take-out order from Mermaid sushi earlier, so the boys went to pick it up while I nursed P to sleep.  Yes, that’s a sushi order for 3.  🙂 Love the… Read more >

I gotta stop pushing it these weekends

This weekend was full of relaxing at home.  Thank goodness! Last weekend I came down with mastitis and was way too ambitious for my own good.  We went to a football game with a couple and their 6 month old on Saturday.  And then traveled to the East Bay for a baby shower on Sunday. It was really fun, but I my suffer-in-silence-and-just-push-through-it approach completely backfired.  Come Monday I felt like crap and it was just me and pacman left to our own devices. Raise your hand if you’re surprised by my stubbornness…nobody?  Yeah that’s… Read more >

Trying different things

I ate something different for breakfast every day this week!  That’s so unlike me! Monday: two fried eggs + aged goat milk cheddar + avocado Tuesday: open faced GF toast + aged goat milk cheddar + avocado   Wednesday: banana baked oatmeal + peanut butter + protein powder   Thursday: oatmeal + almond milk + raisins + peanut butter Friday: Udi’s GF bagel + peanut butter + fried egg   Kinda been tweaking my morning routine to try and get more protein in on the days when I eat oats and toast.  Adding protein powder… Read more >

Breakfast for one

This was my breakfast last Sunday.  Then again on Monday.  And then again on Wednesday.  [Tuesday I went back to the egg and toast routine] There’s no saying how long this will last…   Just one massive pancake.  The whole batter poured into the 8 inch pan. It’s so fun to eat when it goes on forever and covers the whole plate.  These photos are semi-deceiving.  These are large dinner plates…making this a pretty sizable flapjack.   Oat Peanut Pancake [FODMAPs friendly, gluten free, dairy free; serves 1] Ingredients: 5 tbsp oat flour (certified… Read more >

“Five” balls

Dearest medjools.  You make everything taste like dessert.  And yet, you count as a fruit.  One of mother nature’s true gifts. Dearest peanut flour.  You’re so rare.  So special.  People have to seek you out and hoard you.   These two together are like…heaven.  No really.   I named these treats “five” balls because the ingredients are oh so conveniently organized in fives.   Ironically, the recipe yields more than five balls, but whatever.  I suppose I could have just made really large ones in order to honor the name.  But I didn’t.  Oh well….
