Oven obsessed

I have literally been living at the office hospital.  And yet, somehow I have managed to churn out heaps of produce in the few hours I have been home.  Seriously, our apartment is where produce comes to die (death by baking anyone?).  Wanna see a few of my success stories (if you said no…well…tough sh!t).  😉 FINALLY!!  (I think kale chips have been on my to-make list for a year now).  It’s about damn time, Elise. Massaged with cooking spray, nooch, and salt (like, a LOT of salt), then baked at 350 for 10-15 minutes. … Read more >

The massive recap that never ends

Seriously, I hope I’m not boring you all, but this trip home was so epic, that even the Cliff’s notes version is miles long… I guess I will continue from where I left off (Saturday PM). Since the Nike half marathon started at 7 am (and I had no desire to commute into the city before that ungodly hour) I stayed at my sister’s apartment the night before.  At least something positive came out of last month’s half marathon pre-race disaster (i.e. 4 am wake up calls are NOT conducive to a happy hippie).  Spooning… Read more >

Is there an app for that?

I don’t have an iPhone, but if I did, I know I would be obsessed with all those fun little apps.  If only there were one that could help me decide what I wanna eat!  Sometimes I can’t for the life of me figure out what I’m in the mood for. Do you ever have this problem?  This morning I stared into the fridge for a solid 5 minutes, then went to the pantry, then back to the fridge again…and I still came up with NADA.  I didn’t feel like anything sweet or savory, and… Read more >

Dessert trumped Quantum Leap

FridayAYayAY I’m gonna fly through the AM stuff because the PM is SOOOO much bettah! Attempt #1 at making my own pumpkin butter.  Good, but not great.  This contains (unmeasured amounts of) WF canned pumpkin, NuNatural’s vanilla extract, cinnamon, and NuNatural’s liquid sweetener.  It was weird at first, but like most other fetus obsessions, it grew into a full blown baby food crush in a matter of spoonfuls.  YUM!! I had it with apples and carrots (unpictured), while chatting via BBM with my lovah.  I decided to go to the gym before my sugar high… Read more >

Sore and more with chickpeas

I have been a slacker!  Rather than let these photos cause my 900th computer crash fall by the wayside, how about we play a quick little game of catch (up)? Last week, vital wheat gluten met my bestie, the chickpea. I went with the tried and true (recipe from V’con) for chickpea seitan cutlets.  Can cookbooks win Pulitzers?  So simple, so genius.  I barely let them cool before taste testing them out on a piece of bread (and subsequently losing a layer of skin on the roof of my mouth).  Yum yum. The magic bullet… Read more >
