I love Gold!

Garlic may not be my favorite thing in the world, but when it comes to making a marinade, I do enjoy a hint of it.

And since the days of BBQ have peaked, these arrival of these Garlic Gold products couldn’t have been more timely.

*Disclaimer: I did receive these products from the company to review.

This is a side shot of the Garlic Gold Meyer Lemon Vinaigrette which we used as a marinade for the fish as well as the veggies.  Check out those layers!  So many glorious flavors in the oil mix.  The most amazing (slash puzzling) part is that the vinaigrette doesn’t actually contain ANY vinegar.  Uhhh…what!?!  This was kinda weird to me, until I realized how much more zesty it was (and more easily tolerated for those who have tummy troubles with vinegar products – like Kyle).  Another thing worth mentioning is that Garlic Gold only uses Extra Virgin Olive Oil (as opposed to a blend) and there are no thickeners (another important fact since many people are sensitive to such additives).  Basically it is just the purest of the purest ingredients.  Here’s the first (of what will soon be many) uses:

The fish was for my fam (not me), and was blue fin tuna caught by my dad’s friend.  The zucchini I used was straight from my mom’s garden.

The rest of the veggies were store bought, and included eggplant, red bell peppers, and mushrooms.

After they all had time to sit in the vinaigrette for a bit, I threw them in the grilling basket.  This is such a cool tool to BBQ veggies (or potatoes or whatever) – I need to remember to get one for our own apartment!

After:

This couldn’t be an easier way to cook – plus I don’t have to worry about the BBQ tools used for the meat cross-contaminating the veggies.  All you have to do is shake the basket a bit every few minutes to get them all cooked evenly.

Accompanying the BBQ was a big salad with beets, kidney beans, chickpeas, tomatoes, marinated artichoke hearts, and romaine lettuce from my mom’s garden.

So purrrrty.

I had seconds of both 🙂  The vinaigrette was the perfect hint of flavor without dominating the veg altogether.  I loved it – and I’m not even a garlic worshipper!  Garlic Gold’s products are just so great.  I can’t say enough good things about them.  Nothing but the purest ingredients, no additives or chemicals or anything non-recognizable on the label, and it’s certified organic too.

I swear, all I want to eat from now ‘til 2012 is veggies.  I think Vegas took a part of my soul.  It may be a very very long time until I can drink function normally again.  At least I have made a (healthy) step in the right direction…

That basket is so cool! Never seen one of those before. Is it just for veggies or could you put things like tofu or fruit in there too?
