A weekend of Lafayette leaves

I’m so behind in posting!!  Indulge me as I recap last weekend… Thursday night we got a surprise visit from Kyle’s dad.  He was passing through Davis so he spent the night at our place. He arrived during patty-cake’s dinner time.  More peas for P, please! After we all played for a while, it was bedtime for the little guy. We had called in a take-out order from Mermaid sushi earlier, so the boys went to pick it up while I nursed P to sleep.  Yes, that’s a sushi order for 3.  🙂 Love the… Read more >

Peanut + pumpkin pairing

I don’t think the idea of paring pumpkin and peanut would have occurred to me before seeing this recipe of Katie’s.  But it sounded like an interesting combo, and I only had a bit of pumpkin left, sooo…yeah…I made a pumpkin peanut butter stew and the rest is history. Pumpkin Peanut Butter Stew with Spinach & Tempeh [vegan, gluten free, FODMAPs friendly] Ingredients: 1/2 cup pumpkin (either use canned pumpkin or mash/puree a baked squash) 1/2 cup plain almond milk 3 tbsp peanut butter 1 tbsp maple syrup (omit with using sweetened PB) 1 tsp… Read more >

The least I could do

Hi lashes! Here’s another insanely simple thing for people on the go. Meeting the Redwood Hill farm and goats

Four score (and a really long time ago) I went to visit the Redwood Hill Farm dairy and creamery.  I’m obsessed with their goat’s milk and lactose free dairy products, and they were nice enough to reach out to me to see if I was interested in taking a tour of the place.  Ummm, yes please!!   They were so thoughtful, in every aspect…arranging for me to meet the owner Jennifer….giving P a stuffed animal goat…touring the dairy…meeting the goats…and sending me home with mega samples!  Not just of cheese either!  They grow TONS on… Read more >

Following other people’s recipes

For all the recipes I find in cookbooks, magazines, and blogs, I don’t make very many!  I’d say they serve as inspiration mostly.  My taste preferences usually then guide me in tweaking things to make them how I want them. But in the past few months I’ve been drawing blanks in my kitchen (I crave nothing and because of this I cannot for the life of me create menus in advance). So basically I have been (a) remaking my faves over and over (and over) again; and (b) (finally) making things I’ve starred from these… Read more >
