DC: A Pizza Town

Our first day in DC was a really productive one.    We were up and out the door at a pretty impressive time.  Starting at the WWII Memorial, we headed to the Vietnam Wall, followed by the Lincoln Memorial, and then the Korean War Memorial.          You’d think that would have tired us out, but we pushed on, continuing past the Washington Memorial to the Holocaust Museum. DC: Identity Crisis

Let me first start out by saying, I’m not usually a good liar.  In fact, I have a pretty hard time holding a secret for longer than a minute.  Kyle has learned this the hard way, and as a result, he rarely shares top secret stuff with me (friends’ impending engagements, etc.).  I’m not a gossip, I just like sharing information!  Let that be a lesson to everyone.  So.  Backing up to Thursday.  Our flight was set to take off around 1 pm, so Kyle and I woke up early, ate breakfast, finished some last… Read more >

Herbed Bread Twists

Rise.    And shine. After a few recent failures, it’s such a relief to FINALLY have a success story with yeast dough.    Up until this point, the only loaves that were both edible and risen were from my bread machine, which lead me to believe I was unable to knead on my own. Hallelujah!       This dough is truly flexible and can be used for everything from bread twists, to soft pretzels, to pizza dough. Basic Dough: 1 1/2 cup warm water 1 tbsp sugar 2 1/4 tsp active yeast (1… Read more >
