Day 8: En Punta

Bienvenidos a la playa!   In spite of PLUNA Airlines’ complete disregard for flight times, we landed in Punta Del Este, Uruguay in good spirits, ready to start the second leg of our December vacation. I was so into this book, I didn’t even care that our flight was an hour behind schedule.  I also didn’t even notice Kyle take this picture with his iPad.  Now that’s a good book (Girl in Translation).  So.  A bit about why we chose Uruguay.  Everyone describes Punta Del Este as “the Saint-Tropez of South America” which basically means… Read more >

Carrot icicles and a big ‘ol brownie

Another day another packed lunch.     For breakfast I had oats with home-made almond granola on top (I just realized I never posted that recipe).  Oops!   I intended on eating the banana with the oats, but it was so good on it’s own I didn’t mess with it.  I ate this around 9 am – earlier than usual – but two of my three patients wanted to be left alone.  Provided they are medically stable, I try to accommodate their wishes as best I can.  I can relate to not being a morning person,… Read more >

Replenishing tea (giveaway)

Say it with me now: So-Ken-Bi-Cha So = Refreshing Ken = Health Bi = Beauty Cha = Tea In other words, Sokenbicha is a refreshing tea that helps your body stay healthy and beautiful from the inside out.   A little background… Last month I was talking with a patient’s friend and she mentioned that she drinks aloe.  As a beverage, not a topical application.  Having seen these drinks pop up more and more at Whole Foods, I’ve been wondering about the health benefits (and more importantly the flavor).  It makes sense I guess.  Your… Read more >

Hollywood, Glendale, and Larchmont [oh my]

We covered some serious ground on Laura’s last day in LA! I’m a horrible sister considering I’ve lived in LA for over 6 years (four in college and two currently) and never taken her to see the touristy sights. We started at the Chinese Theatre.  She saw the stars…and some other characters…and quickly realized why I avoided that part of the city.   For lunch we headed over to Mendocino Farms, a place I’ve been meaning to try for a while.    I’m so lame when it comes to leaving the Westside.  I fully admit… Read more >
