peanut buttah jelly time

Hooray!  The internet people fixed our connection thingy for real now.  Can you tell how tech savvy I am with that intelligent computer language…Anyways, fingers crossed, we won’t have any more days without access to the outside world.  Phew!  (Since it is snowing and I’m cooped up in the apartment, I associate the internet with the “outside”)

I started the day off with a mug of frothy vanilla coffee and big bowl of oats.

Gotta love me some Bob’s Red Mill organic whole grain oats 🙂

I had about 1 1/2 cups and added in some raisins, cinnamon, and a heaping spoonful of creamy peanut butter…Oh lovely oats!

After vegging the AM away, I decided to get my ass to the gym (it’s been over a week) so I think it’s about time I ventured back into the exercise world.

Well, I had a pretty crap workout.  The gym was PACKED (so annoying) and since it was 17 degrees outside, the gym was in the 90s (way overcompensating).  It was really uncomfortable and I was miserable the entire time.  I felt so out of it.  First of all, I wasn’t in the right mindset, and secondly, all the machines had lines!  Ew. I hate waiting to exercise.  It makes me feel like a hamster or something, awaiting my chance to spin on the wheel.  The lack of freedom and imposed time limits was not what I wanted.  I ended up waiting 15 minutes to get in my 30 minutes of cardio, after which I had to turn the machine over to the next in line…ugh.  I went home feeling worse than I did before my “work out.”

When I got home I was in a funk…that only peanut butter would fix.  I had some creamy nut butter on toasted Alvarado Street soy bread and an apple.

And a bit later…vanilla soy yogurt with a bowl of grapes.

During the Eagles game I snacked on pretzels with hummus.

Home-made hummus that is!!  Woot woot!

For dinner I was in the mood for breakfast food.  I’ve kinda been craving AM foods all day…

1 cup of egg beaters

3 crispy strips of soy bacon

2 pieces of toast with plain greek yog and avo

I ate the entire bag!!!!  (shocker)

After dinner and the Eagles game (sad), I decided to take a second shot at hitting up the gym.  I don’t like being a Debbie Downer on the blog, but I was SO annoyed after my first attempt at working out today that I really wanted to have a successful gym sesh to redeem myself.  The second football game was a good background distraction to keep me exercising…

I was semi-productive on this trip, but I still only did the elliptical for 30 minutes, followed by a 10 minute walk.  I guess the combination of both half-ass gym visits could be equivalent to one (more or less) decent session.  I really can’t seem to get back on track and it’s frustrating me to no end.  I know I’m overly hard on myself, but my January was going really well, I was balancing my exercise schedule with work and eating in a mindful healthy way, and then all of a sudden, I got my period and turned into a total sloth.  Eating everything in sight while not even bothering to change out of my pajamas all day long.  Sure, I’d love to blame it on hormones and the crappy weather, but I know I’m a stronger person than this!  I shouldn’t be so affected by these things.

Venting done.  Sorry for that paragraph of self reflecting mumbo-jumbo.

And some blueberry green tea while watching Brothers and Sisters.

Ok, tomorrow starts anew.  Self control, here I come!  Nighty night!
