LA LA land, day 3

Another morning, another run on the beach… Rose Cafe has always been Kyle’s fave brunch spot in LA, so obviously we had to go. It’s been redone, so the interior was a bit different, as was the menu.  Kyle was kinda bummed because Rose Cafe is where he first fell in love with eggs benedict and there weren’t any benedicts on the whole menu.  They used to have a bunch of different ones.  🙁 I was in the mood for something sweet, so I got the cinnamon roll with vanilla glaze that I first laid eyes… Read more >

LA LA land day 2

Not sure how to pronounce this place…yass or yaz or y.a.s? But I went to a spin class there on Saturday morning because #wheninLA right??  I was there early, because it was a 2 minute walk from our rental, and I am one of those people who is still early everywhere, even on vacation. I had reserved a spot in advance the night before (to keep me accountable).  I sweat like craaaazy but it was the best! I showered and got ready back at home and then we walked down to Abbot Kinney for breakfast… Read more >

LA LA land

Spring Break did not start out great.  P ended up coming down with a cold Thursday night/Friday morning, which stalled his allergy OIT from advancing.  At the time I was a little bummed out, but it turned out to be a blessing because it meant (a) we were able to leave to drive to LA sooner and (b) we got to see how the clinic handled illness without it being too bad. They were SO amazing.  We have recently suspected he has (respiratory cold induced) asthma, so what is a normal cold for others, escalates… Read more >

New tradition

Effective immediately, we are doing brunch out on Christmas Eve as a family tradition. This year we went to Cafeteria 15L in Sac. Go big or go home, right? Kyle got some Benedict monstrosity, and I got a waffle egg sandwich (hold the cheese).  Each came with a side of hash browns which were super crispy and perfect. V got “can-cakes” (pancakes) but didn’t like them as much as the fruit.  Her kids plate came with fruit, carrots and celery, and a cookie.  A COOKIE AT 9 am!?!?  Yeah, no. I brought P his own… Read more >

Jamba Juice is so allergy friendly

Ever since I discovered how awesome Jamba Juice is (in terms of taste and their allergen protocol in the store) I’ve been tempted to let P try it. I want him to learn how to speak up for himself – to self advocate about his allergies and his health needs – and maybe develop a bit of independence in the process.  Also, I want him to get the pleasure of ordering food (if we eat at restaurants with the kids I always bring food for him – I trust no kitchen other than my own). So last week, when… Read more >
