To market to market

Which breakfast looks better?  The muffins?  Or the chia pudding with peanut butter?  It’s a tough call…the muffins are SO good it took every ounce of mama love to let the kids have them.  But I did.  And then I had the chia pudding which was equally delish so luckily I didn’t feel like I was missing out or anything.

Verdict is in, the Beanfield’s nacho chips are better than the Siete ones.  Also they have way more protein and slightly fewer carbs (if you care about such things).  More importantly, though, is that the seasoning and salt on the Beanfield’s chips are just exponentially more delicious.  Anyway, I had this junky salad for lunch with tons more chips on the side.  The bag is almost gone now, but there is just enough for one more salad so prepare to see that in the near future.

I had a FATTY headache all day (continued from the night before) and was chugging water endlessly trying to turn things around.  It was super annoying.  Then with lunch I was hoping the salt from the chips would maybe help, but it was a no go, too.  Blah. I think it was allergies (??) because it felt like pressure in my sinuses was the issue, but I have never had allergies before so that’s pretty random.  Then I was thinking it was maybe the smoke from the Nor Cal fires (we could smell them on Sunday and Monday and kept inside because the air quality index was too high), but that would be weird because I really limited my exposure to the air.  Hard to say…in the end, it finally went away that night.  But it was a pretty miserable 30+ hours.

Anyway, there’s no real segue from that, but here’s a new product I tried recently.

It’s a good thing they were tasty too, since we had to sell our house to buy them.  Ok, I’m only kidding, but like all organic, vegan, gluten free, grain free goodies, they cost a pretty penny.  I found them at…you guessed it…my parents’ Whole Foods.  And since they were discounted already AND I’m an amazon prime member I decided to go for it (in case you live under a rock amazon prime members get an extra 10% off sale items).  So I think they cost $4 after all that.

Check out these stats!!   Cardboard taste free!  Ha!

Although I just realized that they have quinoa (a pseudo grain), which may not be considered “paleo” or “grain free” for the strict ones, so look out for that if you care.  [I don’t]

All real foods in the ingredients.  And decent protein too.

And super crispy!  They held up for both thick spreadable nut cheese and avocado.  Definitely a new favorite, even if it is a $$ splurge food.

Final new product was “the bu” kombucha, which I got talked into by the WF employee restocking the case.  I was picking up a drink for the road and that’s when I saw the GT’s pink lady basil that I blogged about previously.  The WF employee seemed to know his stuff so I trusted his opinion and branched out with the honeydew flavor.  It sounded so summery and refreshing!  I love honeydew!  That said, I didn’t really think this qualified as kombucha.  It didn’t have the signature tangy fermented flavor at all.  It wasn’t effervescent.  And frankly, the flavor was very mild.  It was a nice refreshing drink, but it ‘aint no GT’s.  Lesson learned.  Make your own or buy the OG brand.

My parents came for Farmer’s Market!!

I tried a new vendor and got a burger.  It may look confusing because the bun and chips are on a separate plate from the actual burger, but make no mistake, nothing went to waste.  The kids had the bun the next day for lunch (which was great because I still hadn’t gone shopping and we had zero bread in the casa).

The burger was super juicy and rich and I would definitely get it again when the mood strikes.  I just wish farmer’s market had a salad option because sometimes hot food is not that appealing on these 100 degree Summer nights.

Next week I’ll get my act together and pack salads to bring with us – even if it’s the cheater way with store bought salads that I bulk up with nuts and avo and all that jazz.

I think they are content to eat corn dogs every Wednesday for the rest of their lives.

Hi Elise,The headache you described does sound a lot like a sinus allergy headache.I have them also and didn’t begin until I was in my late 30’s so allergies can start later in your life(I don’t know how old you are..Lol) Anyways what helps me a lot is to neti pot multiple times a day.I use the Neilmed sinus rinse and it seems to help with the headache a lot and feels really good.Hope this helps. Love that you are blogging more frequently these days.I really do enjoy the posts.

Awesome info – thanks! I’ll have to bust out my neti pot. My friend said peppermint essential oils on her temples helped too so I may give that a try as well. 🙂
