Week notes

I was going to try to do a WIAW post, but I just couldn’t get it together in time.  Or photograph everything.  Here’s some of my “what I ate wednesday week” in bullet points. Monday Coffee.  Duh. My GF loaf is going fast and I still never even showed it’s birth.    Sunbeam and Bob’s Red Mill make bread making pretty effortless.     Unfortunately due to the garbanzo bean flour, my GI system was not very pleased with the final product.  Tasty?  Yes.  Bloating?  Very.  It took a bit of trial and error with other… Read more >

In the still of the night

I leave for work and it’s pitch black outside…12 hours later I leave the hospital and it’s again darkness.  I can’t really complain since I spent Friday on the beach with Kyle (summer sun in October, what whaaaat).  But I worked this weekend and tried to take a photo out the kitchen window before I left…just to show the lack of light.    Didn’t really work.  :(  It’s so dark out, all you can see is my reflection.  My breakfast is far more photogenic.  Quinoa on quinoa?  Why not! Angelinos at Angelica

As Kyle and I headed to dinner on the eve of September 11th, the sky was illuminated with a beam of light where the twin towers once stood.  It was both eerie and inspiring and when I saw it I thought of each person who’s life changed that day.  I know that this post is from last week (and therefore old news), so I won’t share my reflections on 9/11, but it was a very patriotic weekend to be in NYC.  If there were a way to feel proud and somber at the same time,… Read more >

Bonobo’s on the brain

After a wonderful morning of sleeping in, running in the park, and brunching at Joe, I headed downtown to pop into my old office.  I just wanted to say hello to some of my friends from work.    And by “office”, I mean hospital.  And by “some of my friends” I mean two people.  Because almost everyone else has quit since I left.  I had been texting with them the days leading up to my trip, so I knew they’d be working that day…but I didn’t anticipate anyone else caring that I was coming… Read more >
