Vegan love truffles

Love.  Love.  Love. You can pretty much slap any romantic words in front of a meal name on the 14th and it’s instantly a cupid-themed treat, right?  (Well, maybe not mushy) This morning’s oats were anything but ordinary – they were hot and steamy. 🙂 The add ins were semi-special.  Mostly because there was no moderation whatsoever in the amounts used.  Sure it looks like a simple spoonful of raw almond butter above, but I actually added in the entire remaining portion seen below. I also added the whole banana into the oats when they… Read more >

A is for…

Arame. Welcome to the first day of Alphebruary.  [In case you missed the description of this month’s little game, see this post] Arame is a species of seaweed.  I’ve used it to make seaweed salads before (as well as wakame), but seaweed is something I often forget about until I am at a sushi restaurant.  It’s ridiculously easy to make, which is why it immediately came to mind when I was brainstorming “A” words for the first day of Alphebruary.  So tonight I was set on making a delicious seaweed salad centered around arame.  Here… Read more >

Merry Millennium

Happy holidays everyone! It’s Christmas up in here 🙂 I’m working on the 25th, so Santa was nice and obliging and came early this year (this post is from the 21st). Native Foods of Palm Springs

In honor of Kyle making it through finals without losing his marbles finishing the quarter, we decided to take a weekend getaway together.  Neither of us had ever been to Palm Springs before so it seemed like a nice destination.    I really didn’t do too much research before heading to the desert, but I’m a very simple girl.  On vacation, all I need to be happy is sunshine, Starbucks, and sleep.  Ok, good food, too.  Check. Check. And check.  We arrived Friday evening and checked into our hotel before strolling the downtown area.  Thanks to… Read more >

Kane have some more

In case you were unaware, I really love sushi.  I’ve always loved sushi.  When I moved from CA to NYC, I stopped eating fish because I didn’t like the idea of not knowing from where where it came.  Responsibly-caught, fresh-from-the-Pacific fish, however, is ok by me.  So now that I’m back on the West Coast, I’ve been more open to re-introducing fish into my diet.  Kinda.  Sushi is currently one of the only ways I will eat fish.  And although I can count on one hand the number of sushi outings I’ve had in the… Read more >
