Such a tease

This Monday was especially painful because the sun was radiating into my patients’ rooms all day long.  It was heavenly, but I was stuck in the hospital.  So it was agonizingly beautiful.  Such a tease!  At least I had good food to enjoy on my lunch break… Bars, apples, baggies, tupperware.  Fabulous. In the tupp:  spinach, seaweed salad, carrots, broccoli, and pepitas.  To the people who asked, I sometimes make my own seaweed salad, but this one was store bought (you can see a different salad of the same brand here).  Occasionally they have them… Read more >

Sunshine, don’t go away

As far as weekends go, this was pretty damn near perfect.  It started with a 10 am wake up call (sleep in much?), and then a bit of coffee loading.  Since it was a GORGEOUS 40+ degrees outside, Kyle and I wanted to get our faces in the sun asap.  So, after snacking on one (and a half) of my chia seed oat bars, we set out for a run in the park.  I can’t even tell you how long I have been waiting to feel the road beneath my feet.  The treadmill just hasn’t… Read more >

Marching on…

I would just like to say how awesome it is entering the subway at 5:45 am in darkness and reemerging to a glorious sunrise.  Light in the morning!  Can I get a hell yeah? Anyways, here are my eats, pre-packed and ready for the trek to the hospital… Apples, salad, carrots, hummus, and bars (PB&J Dipped MoJo bar, Super Protein Odwalla bar, and the latest PranaBar flavor to rock my world).  In zee salad: spinach, steamed brocc, zucch, sesame/seaweed salad, and dried cranz. My feelings about the Cranberry Goji Supercharger PranaBar cannot be masked.  Effing… Read more >

Pearly whites & snowy nights

After my sophisticated breakfast of an apple and frothy cup of coffee, I headed to the dentist’s office for a routine cleaning.  Since I was in midtown, I met up with Kyle after my appointment to show off my sparkling new pearly whites.  I owe my cavity free chompers to these babies.  Kyle and I went for a little stroll before he returned to work. Entering through Artisan’s Gate (Central Park South and 7th Ave)… A crossroads in The Park (if there’s ever a park to be capitalized and deemed “THE” park, it should be… Read more >

Work and what-not

I made a Mexi-kale salad for lunch.  Sure, I just coined the term, but I think it fits.  On top of the kale was wakame seaweed, butternut squash, cherry tomatoes, black beans, and some salsa (added later so it wouldn’t sogg-ify).  Yes, I realize the involvement of seaweed in a south-of-the-border themed salad may be a bit of a stretch, but can’t I just claim poetic license on this one? To complete the (admittedly weak) Mexi theme, I also had a baggy of Brad’s Blues All Natural blue corn tortilla chips which added the perfect… Read more >
