(extra long) Sigh.

What a short lived break.  Having only one day off of work was such a tease.  So back to the hospital I went. The usual crew of lunchables: salad with a lot of greenery, roasted carrots with cranz, Spiced Pumpkin Pie Clif bar (why does this have to be seasonal, it’s SO good), PB cookie Larabar (best flavor, definitely, best flavor), TWO apples (not baby horse ones, these are the big bad boys), dried pineapple and pears. Foggy bag much?  By the way, I’m completely obsessed with roasting carrots into fries.  I could easily go… Read more >

Pizza, pizza, pizza. Who am I?

Lately I’ve been having such rando cravings, I feel like a preggo!  (Don’t worry Mom…) I had frozen pizza just the other day, and yet, the following TWO days I had pizza as well.  Seriously.  Who am I?  This is pretty odd considering pizza is not exactly a food I would typically associate with strong feelings of lust.  Growing up, it was never a food I especially craved.  As fun as pizza parties were, discovering I was lactose intolerant at such a young age severed any chance of forming the quintessential bond that most kids… Read more >

Cold weather challenges

It’s been pretty cold lately, and with the change in weather comes several personal challenges.  Comfort food.  Why is it called that?  It certainly doesn’t leave you feeling comforted.  For all intents and purposes, it should be called UNcomfortable food, because of how it leaves you feeling.  But then, who doesn’t crave warm foods during the cold months?  Sure, there are healthy hot dishes, but soup gets old, and suddenly I find myself drawing a blank on the meal creating front and resorting to some stereotypical (aka less than healthy) alternatives.  Because of this, the… Read more >

Tupperware tupperwhere?

I woke up this morning and found that Kyle had left me a note. Obviously these vegan, gluten free, agave sweetened brownies satisfied my boy’s taste buds! Poor guy was at the office until the wee hours of the night (long after I went to bed), so when he got home he went to town on the remaining baked goods. Thanks to his note, I got a good laugh in as I headed off to work. Packed lunchables.  Yes, TWO apples today.  Honestly, I feel like I should bring in more, but my reputation on… Read more >

Work food with a side vent

Tuesday marked my return to work.  I didn’t miss it, but I like my job, so I wasn’t too bummed about getting back into it. However, by 8 am, I was ready to take that all back.  HA! My pre-packed work eats included: protein pretz, dried mango, dried papaya, salad, tea, apple, Mocha-walla Odwalla bar, Spiced Pumpkin Pie Clif bar, and dark chocolate covered cocoa roasted almonds. This salad wasn’t one of my finest creations considering all the prep I had done the day before.  The chickpeas and BN squash were great, but I forgot… Read more >
