12 miles/hr

Here’s a fun little “would you rather.” It’s pretty much the question that most Angelinos face on a daily basis.  Would you rather drive or ride your bike for 12 miles?  What if I told you the cycling route would be a guaranteed 60 minute commute, but you may or may not be in your car for 1-2 hours?  Welcome to my life. I chose the bike.   My parents are in So Cal this week to see all the new babies in the fam, so on Monday night they took us out to dinnah…. Read more >

Oh so savory

My meals have been pretty bizarre lately so don’t say I didn’t warn you.   I have no clue how this meal was born.  It came out of nowhere and makes no sense.  At first I thought I wanted sweet oats (my normal breakfast thang).  But then I saw some leftover tofu and said to myself “why not!” I added chai tea to my oats along with half the block of tofu and mashed them all up together. The next leg of my journey was excellent.  I had an aisle seat in a three seat row and the middle… Read more >

Mickey mornings

Is there anything better than a Mickey pancake on a Monday morning?   If so, I’d really like to hear it! Pancakes were a Sunday thing for my family.  At least they were whenever we didn’t have a soccer tournament that required us to be in Lemoore or Visalia or Clovis (you get the idea…I traveled a lot for soccer).  Anyway.  My point is, brunch after church was a treat.  We would either go to a local cafe or go home and make pancakes.  And we always requested Mickey Mouse pancakes.  While at Disneyland this… Read more >

His & hers pizza

Most Whole Foods stores sell pizza dough that’s ready-to-go.  They usually have both wheat and white available.  Yesterday Kyle and I were in the mood for his and hers pizzas, so we stopped by the store on the way home from a neighborhood stroll.  The dough was nowhere to be found!  The employees at the sandwich station were kind enough to go to the back to get me some dough, but the only kind available was white.  I was bummed, but we still got it (how could I refuse it after they were kind enough… Read more >
