Elise Lately [IV]

Some people may get sick of leftovers, but I am quite content eating the same thing over and over and over again. Leftovers x a million.     Field Roast wild mushroom quarter loaf.  Roasted veggies.  Quinoa.  Like a never ending Thanksgiving…   Blackberries are NOT good in smoothies.    The seeds.  They’re annoying.  But I still have half a bag of frozen berries in the freezer, so…yeah.  It was a “mixed berries” bag, but I picked out all the strawberries, so it’s just blackberries left.  Gotta do something with that. Kyle was in Arizona last… Read more >

Molasses in December

These are gooooood.   Molasses.  Chocolate.  Ginger.  Made by tweaking my basic vegan cookie dough.    You can make these plain, or you can add in chocolate chunks and candied ginger.  Any combination is going to be delicious.  I made five with candied ginger (for me) and six with chocolate chunks (for Kyle). I forget what triggered his sweet tooth, but it was already after we’d had dinner and he suddenly declared he was really in the mood for chocolate chip cookies.  He’s so subtle with his hints, isn’t he?  I wanted to make something… Read more >

Ten Reviews

Here are some products I’ve tried lately. Some were bad, some were okay, some were good, and some were awesome. So I figured I’d share. I have no affiliation with any of these companies. These are simply my honest opinions. 1. Lesser Evil krinkle sticks sea salt.  I’ve tried the veggie flavored krinkle sticks before and thoguht they were good, but kinda just a fluff filler food.  To be honest, I couldn’t really tell the difference between the sea salt flavor and the veggie flavor.  It was a little too vinegar-y for my taste.  Their… Read more >

Crafty chowder

It’s still leftover-mania around these parts. I brought home so many mashed potatoes I hardly knew what to do with them all.  There’s only so many mashed potatoes a girl can eat! And since I’m anti-waste (and all about re-purposing things into something different and new), I decided to attempt a potato based soup.  I banked on the crock-pot to help me out.  I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, the slow cooker makes things idiot proof.  Ingredients just plain taste better after swimming for hours together in a pot.  It’s fact.  So… Read more >

Lunch Lady

Kyle’s coworkers tease him (in a fun, non-mean way) about his healthy vegetarian lunches.  Apparently he’s the organic, non GMO hippie of his office, just like I am in mine. 🙂 Now his colleagues are wondering when I’m going to start packing food for all of them.  Which I’m considering a victory for veggies everywhere.    Thanksgiving leftovers on quinoa.  Oatmeal & snacks.   Spaghetti.  Crock-pot potato chowder (recipe coming).   Pita SB&J with organic Swanson sunbutter and home-made pluot plum jam.   18 Rabbits gracious granola packet with organic vanilla greek yogurt. Scrambled mish… Read more >
