About Elise
I’m a nurse. An exercise lover. A whole foods connoisseur. A health enthusiast. And I have IBS. No need to cue the sappy violin music yet...
I’ve found that eating a mostly plant-based diet has allowed me to continue to live and love life to the fullest. Although moderation isn’t something I do well, I’m 100% devoted to giving my body pure, wholesome, quality food. Nutritious and delicious, all the time.
Hungry Hungry Hippie is a way for me to share my daily dealings with food, fitness, and everything in between.
No matter how much I shake the almond or soy milk, the last cup of the carton is always SO MUCH BETTER than the rest. I love the thick sediment that’s left at the end. If only there were a way to make it all like that!? Anyone else a fan of the nondairy milk dregs? In case you weren’t aware, I’m a vanilla whore. I usually buy the unsweetened or plain soymilk/almond milk and just add that and NuNaturals vanilla stevia to my coffee. Lately, though, I’ve been in a mayj vanilla phase,… Read more >

My friends and I have been planning a special booze and games night for a while now… I’d say it went off rather well. 😉 Hula hoop gladiator softball twister jenga. And some bevies. :) Bahahaha. Our cab ride home was ridiculous…the driver had no clue how to drive the 20 blocks from one part of West LA to our apartment and was asking us for directions. Not good. Sunday morning I had this beauty waiting for me And now the weekend is over…sad.

Saturday was packed for me. I woke up early, went for a quick 2 mile jog, showered, caffeinated my face, and hit the road. Off to Glendale! Both my cousin and aunt are preggo. It’s really cool. This is the first child for my aunt and uncle and I’m pretty excited to be getting a new cousin. I only have two cousins, so getting a third is a big deal. And since we are (thus far) a family of girls, he will be the male heir carrying the family name on. The fact that I… Read more >

I’ll fly through the beginning of this post and get the part when (part of) my family is in town!! So tired I couldn’t even scoop my oats into the bowl. They were made with oats, buckwheat, apples, cinnamon, and vanilla stevia. Lunch was shake ‘n bake. Minus the bake. I just love using tupperware with lids to get dressing in every nook and cranny. This is especially important when it’s a delicious dressing like Follow Your Heart’s vegan caesar. It helps if you sing while you do it: shake shake shake, shake… Read more >

So my last post left off with us wandering the Latin Quarter attempting to locate the Pantheon. Well, we did eventually find it. Pantheon means “every God,” which is weird considering it’s (now) a secular sight. But originally it was a church, built for and dedicated to St. Genevieve (the patron Saint of Paris). This Genevieve chick was quite the good luck charm for the French. She protected Paris from the Barbarians in 500 AD and was then buried at the Pantheon. Thousands of years later, Louis XV credited her for his recovery from serious… Read more >
