peaches

I just wanted salad dressing

I feel like I’m clinging onto summer with this breakfast.  Home-made banana pancakes with strawberries and peaches.  This was my first sweet breakfast in a long time.   I finally finished off that massive batch of vegan gluten free pancakes that I made a while back, so I had to do actual work in the morning for these.  The effort was worth it, but I wish I’d had the energy to make a huge batch so there were leftovers.  Part one of lunch was half a sweet potato with tofu scramble.   I’ve been on… Read more >

A September day

This is an attempt at a “what I ate” full day of food.  I think I got everything. Cantaloupe.  With this, I get credit for vitamin C, vitamin E, riboflavin, folic acid, & B vitamins…it satisfies both a fruit and leafy green requirement as per What To Expect.  Efficiency in my nutrition – I like it!   For breakfast we were out of iced tea AND eggs.  Basically a mini disaster.  I made decaf tea in as little water as possible and cooled it down to room temp with a ton of almond milk.  It… Read more >

A wedding and a bump

Where oh where to begin.  Last weekend was so full. On Thursday we drove home via the glorious I-5.  If I had to guess how much of my life I’ve spent on that drive… So Thursday morning I got up early because I had a few things I wanted to get done before the commute home.  First, breakfast. Another vegan tofu “scramble” with a sliced peach on the side (as if you couldn’t figure out what that fruit was). And my folate, DHA and iced tea.  Naturally. After breakfast, I ran some errands, and then… Read more >

Accidentally GFV

Alternative title for this post: the day I ate an entire avocado.   Oh look!  A non-egg breakfast!  We were out of eggs, so the night before I made a vegan alternative.  Just silken lite tofu, nutritional yeast, & Bragg’s liquid aminos. [Lots of nooch] Then in the morning all I had to do was add it to a hot pan (sprayed with non-stick) and wait for it to get warm and kinda crusty (I don’t know a better word to describe it).   In all honesty, I usually use extra firm tofu in scrambles,… Read more >

Personal crumbles

Peaches!  Finally!   This is a portion of my haul home from the Brentwood Farmer’s Market.  Which is awesome by the way – definitely better than the Santa Monica Farmer’s Market (as much as I hate to admit it).  The selection is way beyond produce…they have tons of kinds of hummus…Kombucha…fresh breads…jams…BBQ…baked goods…everything!  Seriously stellar.  Kyle and I went this past Sunday (the one day of the Labor Day weekend I had off) and came home with figs, peaches, strawberries, and peanut butter chocolate chip cookies.  I’m totally getting off track here.  Back to the… Read more >
