Helping hands

In my ongoing effort to clean out the freezer and not forget about things buried in the depths of tupperware, I pulled some banola out for breakfast. Hooray!  Food that is yummy that I didn’t have to prepare.  I don’t know why I am so apathetic about breakfast lately.  Truth be told, I’m not sure how freezer friendly it was, but I didn’t really care.  My coffee was sweet so I was okay with a more naturally/nutty tasting granola. After dropping P off at school we went to the store. Even though we were JUST at… Read more >

Hot Hot Heat

We are melting over here in Davis.  For real.  It’s crazy hot and I’m so lucky I have so many friends with pools. Since it reaches 90 degrees by 8 am, the best option for outside time is first thing in the morning.  We don’t have much shade in our yard, but at least the house offers a little before the sun gets all the way up.  Lately we have been eating breakfast al fresco to maximize outside time. The weekly menu

I am always soooo close to catching up and then I just don’t.  Okay.  Last weekend.  Hmmm…I’ve forgotten it completely…let me look at photos to refresh my memory.  Oh yeah!  Saturday we had swimming and then went to Farmer’s Market, per usual. I also got another chocolate almond flour muffin to go (for a mid-week treat). Kale lunch face.  Standard…. Read more >

The third Thanksgiving

…Of the year is finally over and done and now we can come out from hiding and admit our tree has been up since over a week ago. I am already regretting it just a little bit because P is OBSESSED with all things Christmas and I’m hoping there won’t be a burnout effect before December even arrives!  Ha.  We have already gone to the library for a few different rounds of holiday books because our two options at home have long since reached their reading saturation point for mama and dada (he wouldn’t object to the same… Read more >

The weekly menu

I last left off halfway through last weekend. On Sunday we had family stay with us, so we made a lot lot lot of food. This coriander turmeric chicken rub was from Real Simple and was one of the best meals we were brought during our postpartum meal train.  I made it in advance and let a bunch of thighs and legs marinate all day and then Kyle grilled once it was dinner time. We also grilled corn and paired it with a simple spinach salad (grapes, sunflower seeds and liquid gold vinaigrette). The whole meal was… Read more >
