Buying bananas at Costco is hard to pass up (so cheap!) but they all go ripe at the same time. All 150 of them. So one second you have a bunch of green fruit and then you blink and find yourself with a million pounds of brown spotted bananas to use up. Stat. I’ve been adding them to everything. And freezing them for smoothies. I have 2 loaves of banana bread in my freezer. I have pumpkin banana bread in the fridge. I have made gluten free banana pancakes for myself twice. These… Read more >

Yesterday two days ago was my 31st birthday and even though we didn’t celebrate “for real” because I had to work, it was still a totally special day. My favorite boys spoiled me with love and kisses and awesome presents that I wasn’t expecting at all. I told Kyle not to spend money but of course he ignored me (smart husband). My only birthday request was to make s’mores in our fireplace. It’s the main reason I wanted a house with a fireplace. Priorities people. Hopefully we can make that happen soon. That’s what… Read more >

Kinda unintentionally took a little break from the blog. I wasn’t overly busy, still doing the same work/parent thing, but I just didn’t feel like writing an (uninspired) post about nothingness so I left the computer off. And that’s that. Nothing exciting happened while I was away though. For dinners: I made this creamy dijon tempeh casserole dish again. This time with 3 blocks of tempeh (I 1 1/2-ed the whole recipe) in an 8×8 casserole dish. Boom. Party in my mouth. That’s taken care of a few dinners/lunches. Even… Read more >

I exaggerated a lil bit when I said I hadn’t cooked at all last week. I did, in fact, make this dish, for which I had zero expectations. I didn’t take pics with my real camera because of such (sorry, iPhone blah). But then I was so surprised (in a good way) that I decided to share the recipe. It’s very Sandra Lee so I don’t think I deserve a parade or anything (yet). It’s another “supermom recipe” candidate. The kind you can throw together with minimal effort, in negative minutes, while simultaneously doing… Read more >

Trrrrrrrrouble. [Don’t be deceived by this photo, he’s not crawling. At. All. He rolls to get everywhere. He’s surprisingly mobile for only using rolling as a means of travel. I’m sure I’ll be swallowing my words later but it would be nice if he showed some signs of crawling. Like maybe contact with the ground. On the other hand, he’s basically ready to walk since he holds himself up using the coffee table or wall as support…hmmm…tummy time to standing? Kids are confusing.] On Thursday my parents came to Davis to visit for a few… Read more >
