This past weekend was the first time in a couple of years that I skipped Expo West. I had a ticket and everything, but I just didn’t see the point in trying to make it work. I guess this is evidence that my priorities have shifted. I like free samples and keeping on pulse with the latest natural food trends, but I like family bonding time more. Lucky for me, my in-laws were there to scout out the scene in my absence. They reported back and then some…with tons of samples for me to review. … Read more >

During the first month at home, here’s what a typical day with our family of three looks like… 7 am: Wake up (for good). I usually don’t go back to sleep after P decides he’s hungry between 6-8 am. He eats every 2-4 hours or so throughout the night (it’s occasionally more frequent during the day) so if it’s before 6 am I usually try to go back to sleep again, but if it’s after that I just get up. It’s hard to write about food…all I want to do is chat brag about my baby boy. He’s perfect. So don’t be surprised if this blog veers a little in the family/baby direction. But for now, I’m here with food stuff. Even more than before, I need super fast meals. Preferably healthy ones that can be made one handed. I’m so in love. With my little PAC man. With Kyle. With our family. With our semi-insane-but-totally-awesome-routine. I probably kiss my baby 600 times a day. His squishy cheeks are just so adorable. And his little nose. And lips. Gah. I’m freakin’ crazy head over heels in love with him; and I can hardly believe Kyle and I created him. My body has healed pretty nicely. I’m very lucky. I know this has to do with good (great!) genes, an active pregnancy, and eating well. I think raspberry leaf tea helped too. And as… Read more >

[Cont from part I and part II] A Valentine’s Day to remember P arrived in his new room right as we got there. What we then came to discover was his “room” was really just a cube with a crib in it. Worse still, was that Kyle and I were planning on staying the night. We had one recliner chair. And a borrowed rolling office chair from the nurse’s station. Try learning to latch and breast feed in that environment! All the lactation consultants in the world couldn’t make this situation work. So once again… Read more >
