The Newest Member of the Hippie Family

Dearest Hippie Readers, While Elise is busy enjoying motherhood, it is with great pleasure that I temporarily hijack her blog to introduce you to my new nephew!! Born on Feb. 12th at  6:47am, our little PAC man was a healthy 7 lb 13 oz and 21 inches!  Both Mom and Dad are doing well and enjoying the incredible joy this cutie brings. Love.  I’m not a big Valentine’s person.  Never have been.  Cupid.  Hearts.  Chocolate.  Whatever.  But that’s neither here nor there. The weekender

That’s the name of the meal I ordered at brunch on Saturday.  Kyle’s parents took us to Real Food Daily, my favorite breakfast spot in Santa Monica.  I love this place so much I’ve stopped linking to it on my restaurants tab because I’ve been at least a dozen times.     My plate’s the one on the upper left. It has two (gluten free) pancakes, scrambled tofu (with onions, tomatoes, & cashew cheese), tempeh bacon, and hash browns.  Holy breakfast right? Happy Meals

I dunno if you guys want ideas but here are some of the latest and greatest (?) from the hippie kitchen.    Kale salad with candied nuts, dried cranberries & smoky lemon tahini dressing.   1 large bunch of kale, washed, de-stemmed, ripped into bite sized pieces 1/3 cup dried cranberries 1 cup candied nuts (I used almonds and pecans) Bon Appetit’s Smoky Lemon Tahini Dressing – I halved it and added 1 tbsp of both miso paste and maple syrup   Wednesday was national frozen yogurt day (uhhh, that’s a thing??) so Menchie’s was… Read more >
