Single take

How about one photo for each meal? Crock-pot spiced brown rice with almond butter. In an effort to bring some variety to my oat routine (the horror!!) I made brown rice this week.  The crock-pot is just as easy because I leave it to cook on low overnight and wake up to warm whole grain perfection. Kale salad with seitan. No explanation necessary.  These two foods will never cease to amaze me. The Cookie Department Great Full (vegan) cookie. You would never ever know this cookie has sweet potatoes in it.  It was soooo good. … Read more >

Meatout Monday

Did you know that meatout is the world’s largest grassroots diet education campaign?    And every year, on March 20th thousands of people encourage their friends, families, and communities to "kick the meat habit” and explore a wholesome, compassionate diet of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.  The campaign started back in 1985 and has grown tremendously since then.  Check out the success they had in 2011!  The 2012 goal of meatout is to distribute free vegan food samples to 30,000 people.    My own personal goal in promoting a plant based diet is proving that… Read more >

Natural foods highlights & trends

Make BBQ tofu. Make quinoa.  [I used my rice cooker] Grate carrots.  Scoop avocado into a bowl.  Then add another for good measure. Combine quinoa, tofu, and carrots, with the avo and mash everything together.  Then add to already baked squash.   Obviously the squash is… Read more >

Calcium for dessert (giveaway)

A few weeks ago I received a sample of Adora Calcium supplements in the mail. I’d heard of them before, but never really given them a second thought. They even sat on the counter unopened a few days after I got them. But when I finally got around to bringing a few with me to work, it was love at first taste.  Since then, they have been in every. single. lunch box I’ve brought to work.  Whats more, is that I actually look forward to finishing lunch just to enjoy them for “dessert”.  The same… Read more >
