Sunday night family dinner

It’s impossible for me to forget about our weekly cooking dates because Kyle entered them in our joint google calendar.  So I get reminders emailed and texted to me when it’s time.  He’s almost as type A as I am… [Fact: I’m only pretending I don’t find it attractive.  In reality, I love his nerdy traits more than anything – I just don’t want it to go to his head.] So anyway…Kyle’s parents came to visit and I cooked them dinner.    Happy Birthday Kevin! The (vegan, gluten free) menu: Stuffed Bell Peppers Creamed Corn… Read more >

Satur-date

Kyle and I are really bad when it comes to seeing movies.  We mean to see things and then we just never end up following through.  Last month we finally got our act together and went to see My Week with Marilyn.  Well, the theatre randomly had a power outage, so after walking all the way down to the Promenade, we just turned back around and walked back home.  I’m very embarrassed to reveal what we ended up watching instead. [source] Ummm yeah.  We watched a documentary about Justin Bieber. It gets worse. I had… Read more >

Ironically ill

I got this in the mail a few days ago, but I haven’t tried it yet. Ironically, I am in the middle of quite a cold. Kyle has yet to catch it, which I’m attributing to both the Ultra Immune serum and my anal hand hygiene.  I’m a clean-a-holic anyways (side effect of nursing), but when I’m sick I get really OCD about it. The last time I got sick I complained about the lack of natural products on the market.  Aside from tea, I don’t really have a go-to remedy. In seeing the pure… Read more >

Day 2: Late late meals

We slept through the entire morning. In our defense, the travel schedule and time change was really working against us. Add to that the crazy late meal times in Buenos Aires…well it’s no wonder we slept in ‘til 11 o’clock. So in lieu of breakfast we had coffee with soy milk and fresh bread. I dunked my roll in my coffee. We explored nearby parks and neighborhoods and eventually sought out a real meal. Lunch at 5 pm? Why not. We went to a recommended cafe called Mark’s Deli & Coffee House. The funny thing… Read more >

Curry up slow cooker

These were the leftovers from this dinner. Curried cauliflower with greek yogurt raita. The curry flavor was rather intense, so rather than eat the remaining dish as it was served in the restaurant, I decided to try to extend it’s life and balance out the spices. Enter slow cooker. 1 1/2 cups rice + 3 cups water + 1 cup plain almond milk After 4 hours of slow cooking on low, I stirred it all together and added roasted cashews. Then I left it on warm until dinner time. Mmmmm… The aroma was something else!… Read more >
