Work food with a side vent

Tuesday marked my return to work.  I didn’t miss it, but I like my job, so I wasn’t too bummed about getting back into it. However, by 8 am, I was ready to take that all back.  HA! My pre-packed work eats included: protein pretz, dried mango, dried papaya, salad, tea, apple, Mocha-walla Odwalla bar, Spiced Pumpkin Pie Clif bar, and dark chocolate covered cocoa roasted almonds. This salad wasn’t one of my finest creations considering all the prep I had done the day before.  The chickpeas and BN squash were great, but I forgot… Read more >

Baking brownies and eating them too

So if you go to bed at 2 am, it would only seem natural to sleep in extra long the next day to catch up, right?  Somebody tell that to my body.  My rebellious REM cycle had me up WAY too early on my Monday off.  Darn it.  The one perk of being up before the sun?  I was able to get all my errands done that had been piling up since last week.  After my laundry was started (and my coffee was a-brewin’), I threw together some vanilla protein pancakes (yes, that’s what the… Read more >

D.C. (part 2)

Despite our late night out on the town, we still met at 7 am for breakfast on Saturday.  Craziness, right?  I don’t have any food pics from Saturday until dinner.  If you knew everything we did and saw, you’d understand why. Washington monument WWII memorial Reflecting pool Lincoln memorial Vietnam Veterans memorial Natural History museum American History museum Stars and Stripes Cafeteria lunch (veggie burger) National Air and Space museum White House Starbucks (yes, it gets it’s own bullet point) After what felt like miles and miles of walking, we finally made it back to… Read more >

D.C. (part 1)

We crammed so much sight seeing into this past weekend, I hardly know where to begin.  Please excuse my lack of eloquence, horrible sentence structure, and tragic grammar as I recap piece together the past 72 hours (it was Halloween, there was alcohol, and I have the tolerance of Abigail Breslin). Friday Woke up at 4:30 am for a 7 am train departure.  Keep in mind this was after less than 5 hours of sleep, which were (purposefully) broken up each hour, on the hour, so I could check and make sure my drugged up… Read more >

Xagave winner

Whew!  There sure is a LOT to do and see in our nation’s capital… I will tell you all about my fun, tourism-packed weekend in D.C. but first I believe I have some business to take care of.  Congrats to reader Olivia, who will soon be the lucky owner of some yummy vegan baked treats (made by yours truly) AND a bottle of Xagave’s agave syrup!!  Her guess as to what place I finished was one of the closer ones, but was still fairly far off.  Props to those of you who guessed in the… Read more >
