Short and sweet

In the interest of…well…interest, this post is going to be super short.  Nothing remotely exciting happened today.

5 AM – I woke up to the annoying buzz, buzz, buzzzzzz of my alarm

7AM to 7 PM – Workface

Please direct all questions about my lunch to your mom the comments section.  I doubt you’ll have any, it’s not like this was anything new…

Oh wait, there was this:

IMG_3675

How’d that fatty sneak it’s way into my chickpeas????

The main thrill of the day was the medical staff appreciation mini-shindig thingy that the hospital hosted at lunch time…so on my break I decided to check it out.  Vegan options = watermelon.  I grabbed a few slices to supplement my packed lunch (above).  Sweet.

8 PM – Dragged myself home.

Don’t forget, today was my first day rocking the backpack.  Do I look 12, or do I look 12?  With my short new ponytail and that stylish JanSport…I’m really pushing it.  My back felt so-so.  I’m still looking into chiropractors because of all the positive feedback I got on my last post.  I’m not saying my fears are completely eliminated, but they are significantly reduced, happy Courtney?

8:30 PM – Whole Foods hot bar (so lazy)

9 – Pealed myself off the subway seat (note to self, backpacks = back sweat).  Gross!

IMG_3677

Gracias a WF for this lovely dinner, which included a quinoa dish, kale salad, and baked ‘fu.

IMG_3678

The quinoa salad was gooooood, and had lots of yummies in it (like dried cranz, onions, bell pepps, cashews, and other tasty stuff I can’t remember…)

The kale salad had tofu, cantaloupe, red onions, and a sh!t load of oilSirrrrrisly, calling it a grease-fest would be putting it mildly.  I couldn’t taste anything but oil, and it left my lips with a gloss that even Paris Hilton wouldn’t be cool with.

IMG_3679

See!  (I know you can’t tell from the photo, but it was oil puddle-ville, TRUST!)

Clearly my issues with it didn’t prevent me from chowing down, though.  The disappointing thing about this WF trip was the absence of the new PB&J Larabar.  BOO!!!!  I found the tropical one, but that doesn’t interest me as much.

I went a bit overboard for dessert.  And by “a bit” I mean, a LOT.  Observe.

IMG_3681

Round 1.  Almonds and carob chips.

IMG_3626

Round 2.  Toast with PB.

IMG_3674

Round 3.  Blueberries.

IMG_3682

Knock out.  Ding ding ding.

Time for me to use the food coma to my advantage and zzzzz.

The vegan option was watermelon?? Haha oh boy 😉

    Get those well-deserved zzz’s!

  2. jenngirl

Hey, backpacks may look juvenille, but they certainly get the job done!

Glad you were able to end your night on such a sweet note! 🙂

  3. Graze With Me

Well at least they had one vegan option! My work is the same way, everyone knows that I can’t eat what they’re offering but I’ve gotten over it. I’d rather eat my packed lunch anyway.

Your after dinner eats look just like my afternoon eats sometimes do. I just keep going back for more!

  4. Diana (Soap & Chocolate)

You and I were kale twins tonight! Except the homemade salad won’t be nearly as greasy, promise. Bust out your massage skizzles on a head of kale and observe the magic.

  5. JB

i can’t find the pb & j lara at any of my whole foods either! i’ve been looking for it like a freaking mad woman! and now you’re making me want dessert! oh and by the way, the same thing happened to me with a can of garbanzos the other day! some other bean snuck its way in there! what a coincidence.

    get some good zzzz’s, chica!

mann I TOTALLY feel you with the WF salads. I don’t know WHY in the world they always put so much oil in their salads!!! They would have been just as delicious with far less oil….*sigh*

I do love all your eats today though…especially all the desserts. 😛 I’m a muncher ALL the time…

  7. Abby

We had a going away party at work yesterday, and the veggie option was basically iceberg lettuce and some crackers. They know I’m how I am though, so bringing my own goodies was pretty much assumed. Still…come on people!

  8. prettyladycmu

You totally rock the short pony and backpack! Get down with your 12-year-old self! 🙂

  9. Quinn

Seriously the PB&J Larabar will change your life. I’ll see if I can find some down in DC and send them up your way.

  10. blueeyedheart

What IS that thing?!… it certainly doesn’t look like a chickpea!!

I’m assuming you went to the US WF … they do have the PBJ Larabar!! (Unless they ran out, of course… duh.)

Heh, you can always wear the backpack on your front instead! 😉

Yay for chiropractors 🙂 Seriously, if you get a good one, s/he can really help!

OMG–when I was biking to and from work, I started out using a backpack…backpacks=MAJOR sweaty back syndrome 🙁 I broke down and bought a special bag for my bike rack after a few embarrassing weeks. Besides the fact that I ALREADY look like a 12 year-old without the backpack, adding a backpack and sweaty back just made me feel ridic, and didn’t get me much respect at work!

Have you ever made the quinoa salad from Vcon? SO good! It sounds similar to yours from WF (kind of), and has black beans, mango, red pepper, etc in it. I actually had it for dinner last night!

“absence of the new PB&J Larabar. BOO!!!! I found the tropical one, but that doesn’t interest me as much.” – Um, hello! Twins much?! You and I are on the same wavelength (as if I didn’t already know that).

I feel your pain with the work eats or lack thereof. Why can’t we get some tofu and hummus lovin?!

  13. julie

…um did you steal that back backpack from my third grade first day of school picture? You might find my tie-dye scrunchie and Knicks Starter windbreaker in there too…

looks like you gots to come to the island for the pb&j lbar.

  14. Missy Maintains

Now I am craving WF tofu! Yeah a lot of their stuff is oily! So annoying! Don’t worry about the dessert munchies! I’ve been going throuigh it every night this week! I need my chocolate and fruit after dinner!

  15. lilveggiepatch

Hey, I like your ‘pack. I had a bright pink My Little Pony backpack that I got, oh, junior year of college. Yeah.

If you EVER have lunch breaks (I know you’re a crazy busy lady) we should meet at that WF for lunch…

  16. lowandbhold

I was a victim of leg sweat in salon chair yesterday because of the heavy cape. Ew.

I think your backpack is stylin though… work it!

  17. janetha

  22. elise

Nooo…I searched high and low, and yes, I’ve heard they have it, but they must have been ambushed by the rest of the food bloggers out there before I made my way there.

  23. elise

    ahahhaaa!!

  24. elise

now THAT is rad. lets do it!! (although i have to say, i have bad luck with work day lunch meet ups – both times i tried patients coded as i was about to head to break). perhaps i could just meet you on a day i dont work…OR we could meet at the new WF coming aug 27th on the UWS 🙂

  25. Lara (Thinspired)

Aww, you look adorable with your ponytail and backpack 😉 Oh Jansport…that takes me back to junior high! My friend used to decoriate our backpacks with Sharpie pens and white out. Klassy, I know. What can I say…grew up in a hick town.

  26. blueeyedheart

It IS kind of hard to spot… I checked this morning, and it’s there!! Not on the side of the “express” lines, but on the other side. If that makes any sense. 😉
