A breakfast look back

I used to post our weekly meal plan (for dinners) and even though I haven’t had time to do that in forever, I still take photos of my meals most of the time.  And I have a billion pointless photos on my computer to prove it.  I keep thinking I’ll get around to posting about them one day but maybe I should just cut my losses and accept that it’s not happening.  I have made so many quick breads and muffins and oatmeal bakes for breakfast over the last several months and I just don’t see… Read more >

You had me at pepitas

This post is for you, Laura. Those pepitas are doused in bacon fat, salt and then a sprinkle of chili powder.  Mouth watering yet? Roasted for a minute or so until they start popping off the pan. Girl Power

Can you believe this! I started my morning with NPR, which got me all riled up. But then after breakfast, we headed to downtown Sac.  And… I can’t even describe the chills and optimism I felt this morning, walking hand in hand with my family, surrounded by thousands of people who want to protect women’s rights. Academy of Sciences

We spent MLK’s birthday at the California Academy of Sciences.  We have been meaning to go for so long and only finally got around to it. I came home with 200 photos of fish. They were really into it. We all were! He was watching the penguin feeding and ripping Kyle’s skin off with excited gyrations. Sadly, the Planetarium programs were for kids over age 4, so that was a bummer, but there was soooo much else to do it was fine.  The cafeteria looked LEGIT so next time we may eat there.  I got… Read more >

Disney day and night flight

V woke up at 3 am that “morning” so it’s a good thing we had the kids separated.  I tried to ignore her in the hopes that she’d just go back to sleep, but after what seemed like an eternity of listening to her wail, I went out and got her.  She doesn’t snuggle so bringing her into our bed wasn’t an option. Instead I carried her and walked around the separate TV area of the suite hoping she’d fall back asleep or something in my arms.  No luck.  I was a walking zombie though and I… Read more >
