Allergy testing

I’ll recap the weekend’s lost time later, I just wanted to update everyone on how my “morning” went.  I use quotations because even the earliest MD appointments seem to go on forever and ever… Last month when I started my FODMAPS journey, I got referred to an allergist.  Yes, I already know I have sensitivities to certain foods, but I never really suspected true allergies were an issue.  Wouldn’t I have had more drastic symptoms (ie an anaphylactic response) by now?  [Yes]  Anyway.  In the name of due diligence (for my FODMAPS research), I went… Read more >

In the still of the night

I leave for work and it’s pitch black outside…12 hours later I leave the hospital and it’s again darkness.  I can’t really complain since I spent Friday on the beach with Kyle (summer sun in October, what whaaaat).  But I worked this weekend and tried to take a photo out the kitchen window before I left…just to show the lack of light.    Didn’t really work.  :(  It’s so dark out, all you can see is my reflection.  My breakfast is far more photogenic.  Quinoa on quinoa?  Why not! Hummus’ return

Just popping in to let you all know that this week’s galactans challenge is still in full effect.  Each day I’ve been testing my digestive system’s limits with a different member of the category – including peas, beans, lentils…and hummus.  Oh glorious hummus.  [For a list of the others galactan foods check here]   I somehow managed to delete the final product of this banana, oat, pumpkin combo.  So, yeah.  This is all I’ve got.  Work eats: salad, Halo s’mores ProBar , Enjoy Life chewy cocoa loco bar.   This salad was just your average… Read more >

Break relief nursing

On my unit we have break relief nurses who come in from 11:45 to 5:15 and cover nurses (two at a time) for their hour long lunch breaks.  We sign up for time slots at the beginning of the work day starting at 1200.  I usually try and get one of the 1300 breaks because noon is too early, but I would be starving with any of the later options.  The last one is at 1600.  Anyway, since we use our own staff to work that shift, it’s a pretty seamless transition.  It’s a good… Read more >
