Birthday Blog Takeover #6

Missed the previous guest posts? Check ‘em out…Kyle, Mom, Marie, In-Laws, Ethel This next one is from my bestie Alene.  If you read my blog with any frequency, then she really doesn’t need an introduction.  Enjoy! A Birthday Tribute to E Elise and I have known each other for most of our lives.  We were in kindergarten together, and that’s about the earliest memory in my mind, so to me, that’s pretty much the beginning.  So we’ve known each other from the beginning.  And we started with one big commonality – we both have weird… Read more >

Meeting up in Madrid

May 15th. Slowly but surely I am getting through my Spain travels…here’s more from Madrid, starting up again right where I last left off. I woke up early(ish) to get beautified before meeting Alene at Starbucks.  It’s so much fun meeting up with friends when you are traveling.  I love my family, obviously, but it’s especially great when both your family and  your friends want to travel together.  I’m a lucky girl – although to be honest, since Alene and I have been friends from age 4, it’s almost more accurate to call her family. … Read more >

17th St. Cafe & Bakery

(Based on the name of this post) you can probably guess where I went to dinner over the weekend… 17th Street Cafe & Bakery!  It’s on Montana Ave (and 17th Street – duh) and has been on my to-try list ever since we moved to Santa Monica.  I live a few blocks away, so there’s really no reason why I haven’t yet been. Last week Alene emailed saying she had a groupon for the restaurant that was about to expire.  There’s nothing like a coupon for food to get a group of friends together (add… Read more >

Oh Fwed

Last I left off, we were dining on sushi after a whirlwind day in Versailles.  It was nearly 9 pm at this point and the sun still hadn’t even set…which meant we still had time in the day to fit in more sight seeing. Next up, the Arc de Triomphe! Cue the Eiffel Tower montage… Once again our museum passes were super useful as we slipped right into the front of the line without waiting even a second.  I wasn’t exactly eager to get to the stairs (my poor feet were heavily bandaged at this… Read more >

Practice for the Amazing Race

When I told my mom about our 2nd day in Paris, she was literally cracking up.  How could you not?  It’s pure ridiculousness.  Just wait and see… [Laura captures the sentiments of the day in one photo] Allow me to preface this with some background deets.  After a generous amount of research Laura and I had determined the two day museum pass was definitely the most cost effective option for Paris sight-seeing.  It was 35 Euro and included nearly everything we wanted to do, including admission to the Palace in Versailles.  Seeing as Laura and… Read more >
