3 shifts, 3 bars, 3 bottles

Wuddup sissy-poos?  What’s crack-a-lack-in in the blog ‘hood? If the title confuses you, here are the latest trilogy of events in my life: I worked 3 days in a row, tried 3 new bars, and downed 3 bottles of Kombucha. I’m pretty sure I left off with my pre-packed eats for Sunday’s workity-work, which almost satisfied me, but needed a little supplementation at lunch time. Enter Grape Kombucha!!  Caroline, you were right, this one is divine!  It totally reminded me of popsicles on a hot summer day.  Too bad I was on my lunch break… Read more >

Meet my (other) sister!

After Laura did a guest post, I knew it was only a matter of time before I got Marie on board… She’s my other sister, the youngest of the hippie clan (the one my mom lovingly tattooed with sunscreen in Maui).  Although she has been spending the summer “studying,” don’t feel TOO bad for her.  She’s about to enter her senior year in college.  Oh, and did I mention, she lives ON the beach.  Literally.  Rough life.  Those were the days… Anyways, without further ado, Marie, take it away! Seeing as how we are a… Read more >

I is for Insomniac

You guys are SO hilarious!  I love that so many people noticed and commented on the lack of hummus (gasp) in my previous post, I literally laughed out loud.  Apparently I have a trademark that I wasn’t aware of until now.  Well, if it helps you sleep at night, I made up for it with a crap load of chickpea love today 🙂 The plum/melon fruit platter (above) was my dessert last night, btw.  I thought I’d try and get to bed EXTRA early since I have been having MAYJ sleep issues.  For reals.  This… Read more >

Red, white and…black bean burger

I know Independence wasn’t official until the 4th, but for the sake of my blogging and working schedule, I’m pretending America was born this Friday.  Ya dig?  On that note, what’s a 4th of July celebration without burgers? Vegan black bean/quinoa burgers of course! Kyle was on a flight to CA, so I had the day off with no agenda whatsoever, so I decided to spend some time cooking.  I’ll be working the next 3 days in a row (Sat/Sun/Mon) so I wanna get stocked up to minimize (eliminate) my dinner prep. I’ve been wanting… Read more >

Facebook and falafel

Remember back in the day when Facebook was new and cool and only for nerds college kids?  Those were the good ‘ol days…now it’s open to everyone and their mother.  And I mean that literally.  Parents on a “social networking” site is just awkward.  I’m sorry if it seems harsh, but I think all kids with mid-life-crisis-prone parents need to sit them down and explain to them what’s up.  If we don’t stand strong now and prevent this from progressing, next thing you know you’ll be accepting “friend” requests from your college professors, or worse,… Read more >
